Running Start

What is Running Start?

The Running Start program offers academically qualified high school juniors and seniors enrolled in public high schools the opportunity to take college classes while earning credit for high school. College tuition for eligible classes is covered through Running Start.  Running Start is available during the fall, winter, spring and under certain limitations, summer terms.

Running Start students have two options;

  • The Rapid & Continued Growth of First Day® Affordable Access Programs - Barnes & Noble College

    Option A - Graduate with an Auburn School District High School Diploma; Earn credits through the local community or technical college that will count toward both your high school diploma and be awarded college transcripted credits.  This may or may not include earning your Associate Degree;

  • Option B - Graduate from High School through the local community or technical college if the student also earns their Associate Degree - students who apply for this option would NOT earn a diploma from the Auburn School District, nor participate in ASD graduation ceremonies (must begin junior year).
